PRANA founders Roman Romanovich Kuzych and Dmitry Viktorovich Krotov were invited to a joint meeting of the committees of the Chamber of Commerce. The event took place on December 9. The event brought together representatives of major manufacturing enterprises, ministries, as well as people’s deputies of Ukraine:
- Gennady Chizhikov – president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine;
- Sergey Tsivkach – executive director of UkraineInvest;
- Vladimir Vlasyuk – head of the Committee on Industrial Modernization at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
- Dmitry Mikhailenko – Head of Committee of entrepreneurs on tax issues at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine;
- Dmytro Natalukha – deputy of Ukraine, head of the VRU Committee on Economic Development.
What was discussed at the event
The topic of the meeting was “Encouraging Investments in Production: What Entrepreneurs Need from the State”. To get an answer to this question, we asked the opinion of manufacturers that represent Ukrainian products on the international market on a daily basis. PRANA company was one of them.
Manufacturers said that the formation of a favorable investment climate in Ukraine should be facilitated by large-scale comprehensive measures to improve the operating environment for investors, expand the mechanisms and instruments of investment and investment projects. The key is to develop effective mechanisms which would make it impossible for the state to avoid its commitments or guarantees.
What Ukrainian business needs from the government: PRANA’s opinion
PRANA is the manufacturer of innovative ventilation equipment, represented in 42 countries. To create energy-efficient and environmentally friendly ventilation we set high quality standards. Numerous product awards are proof of this:
- Special Climate Innovation Award from the EBRD;
- Golden Medal (Zloty Medal 2020) in Poland;
- Bringing Climate Innovation for Consumer from EBRD, FINTECC and Greencubator;
- Silver Building Column (Instal System 2019);
- Best Sells Heat Recovery Unit by IQ Energy.
Each of these distinctions is the result of the hard work of developing and implementing innovative technologies. That’s why PRANA noted two aspects:
- The proper level of protection of intellectual rights on the part of the state and the development of appropriate transparent mechanisms of the European level.
- The need for accreditation of Ukrainian certification bodies and testing laboratories at the international level.
The Ukrainians have created many valuable developments, thus speeding up the development of entire industries. For example, the missile and space industry. And we can do even more. But Ukrainian manufacturers need to be sure that their intellectual property rights are protected. We may do it by bringing legislation in line with international law.
The other side of this question is certification of new product models. It is much easier to confirm the quality of goods in the EU. When entering the Ukrainian market, importers immediately possess licenses and certificates that meet requirements of domestic standards. Ukrainian producers do not have such an advantage in the international market. One has to go through certification in accredited EU laboratories first. This is one of the aspects in which we are currently losing.
Conclusions
In Ukraine there are hundreds of worthy manufacturers and thousands of talented professionals. We are able to develop, create and implement projects that will benefit people all over the world. We know how to present ourselves and understand our goals. What we really need is reliable protection of intellectual property and international accreditation of Ukrainian laboratories.
We hope that this meeting will be a small push for big changes. We already represent Ukraine on the international arena. And the support of the government would give us advantages and allow us to take confident steps to conquer the world.
